Sap Running, Maple Syrup Making Time

Maple trees know - days are getting longer and spring is on its way.

See maple syrup being made March 6 to March 8 at Lamothe's Sugar House, 89 Stone Rd., Burlington. Hours, 1 to 4:30 p.m. The temperature is rising and the sap is running.

Call ahead for directions or more details (860) 675-5043.

For other places to visit and sample a real taste of Connecticut, www.connecticutmaplesyrupfestival.com or Maple Syrup Producers Association of Connecticut at http://ctmaple.org. An online brochure is available at this link; call ahead to verify if a sugarhouse is open.

Note: The mural depicting sugaring time is from Mik-Ran Sugarhouse in Brooklyn, Connecticut; their wonderful gift/food shop is now closed.
