Feast On Fairs Large And Small This September Weekend

September is fair season. To find an event (large or small) to sample this weekend, visit the Association of Connecticut Fairs at www.ctfairs.org for details and links on each fair.

Coming up:

Hebron Harvest Fair
North Haven Fair
Wapping Fair
Sept. 10, 11, 12, 13
..........................................

Bethlehem Fair
Ledyard Fair
Sept. 11, 12, 13
..........................................

Granby Grange Agricultural Fair
Killingly Grange Fair
Meriden Grange Fair
Riverton Grange Fair
Sept. 12
..........................................

The epitome of all fairs, although not located in Connecticut, is The Big E, dubbed “New England’s Great State Fair." The 17-day event begins in less than a week, on Thursday, Sept. 17, with a bewildering array of displays and the Avenue of States, where six New England states show off heritage, traditions, and food. And for the taste of a country fair, visit the Coventry Regional Farmers' Market, which offers a different theme every Sunday. For Sunday, Sept. 13, it's a Wine & Art Gala celebrating Connecticut's vintners.

Sample Connecticut wines and cheeses and walk amid displays of fine artists. A full farmers' market offers seasonal produce to delight the senses - local food and produce, handmade items, yarns and delicious pies and treats to sample and take home.
