Architects Jeff Goldstone and Tim Smith of Tim Smith & Associates, Dufresne-Henry Engineers, Neagley & Chase Construction and Munson Earthmoving worked with Vermont Timber Works to create the 48' x 96' post-and-beam timber frame barn-like structure. Vermont Structural Slate Company did the beautiful roof that covers it all.
Inside, among the displays of arts, crafts, an incredible artisan-quality canoe and porch rocking chairs (truly functional works of art), there is wi-fi zone, along with a wealth of information about the Green Mountain State. Yes, there are clean rest rooms, but visitors can also tap into the computer stations linked to chambers of commerce.
Vermont stands apart for the hospitality the state offers - there are no rest areas in Connecticut or Massachusetts when a driver heads north, only pull-off places where the roar of passing traffic makes your vehicle rock.
(Another state that welcomes travelers with clean, well-designed facilities, genuine hospitality, and plentiful green areas to find rest is Virginia.)
