Going Home, Clothesline Is Waiting

Vermont used to be called "New Connecticut" - and on January 15, 1777, New Connecticut (Vermont), declared independence.

(The state officially became Vermont, which is an imperfect translation of the French for “green mountain” in June 1777.)

And this year, 2009, is the 400th anniversary of French explorer and cartographer Samuel de Champlain's voyage of discovery in the lake that now bears his name.
