The Connecticut Sea Grant (funded through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, with matching funds from the State of Connecticut, through the University of Connecticut) offers a "Get Your Feet Wet" program on Thursday, March 19, 7 p.m. in Marine Sciences Building, Room 103, at the Avery Point campus, Groton. Connecticut and New York have just been awarded some $820,000 in Long Island Sound research grants to five projects.
The Long Island Sound Study, conducted under the EPA's National Estuary Program, is a cooperative effort between the EPA and the states of Connecticut and New York to restore and protect the sound and its ecosystems.
Research projects will be conducted at the University of Massachusetts, Stony Brook University, and in partnership with the University of Rhode Island.

The national network is comprised of 30 Sea Grant programs based at flagship universities in coastal and Great Lake states throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
